Gondar
Gondar was Ethiopia's imperial capital in the 17th and 18th centuries, and its walled royal enclosure, Fasil Ghebbi, is filled with castles that blend Ethiopian, Portuguese, Indian and Arab influences — earning it the nickname "Africa's Camelot".
Beyond the castles, Gondar is known for the painted ceiling of Debre Berhan Selassie church and as the gateway to the Simien Mountains.
