Day by Day
6-Day Bale Mountains Trek Itinerary
Meet your local guide and scout in Dinsho and begin the trek through the Bale Mountains. Enjoy the beautiful highland landscape and look for mountain nyala, Menelik's bushbuck, warthogs and endemic birds.
Overnight: Sodota Camp
After breakfast, continue trekking through the spectacular Bale Mountains. The route offers excellent opportunities for wildlife watching and photography, with wide views across the Afro-alpine landscape.
Overnight: Wasema Camp
Trek deeper into the remote Bale Mountains toward Garba Guracha. Enjoy the peaceful wilderness, mountain scenery and high-altitude lakes.
Overnight: Garba Guracha Camp
Continue toward the Sanetti Plateau, one of the highest and most spectacular areas of the Bale Mountains. Search for the endangered Ethiopian wolf and enjoy the unique Afro-alpine vegetation.
Overnight: Sanetti Plateau Camp
Explore the Sanetti Plateau and the area around Tullu Dimtu, one of Ethiopia's highest peaks. Spend time wildlife watching and photographing the remarkable high-altitude environment. A vehicle can be used for sections of the route where appropriate.
Overnight: Sanetti/Goba area
Descend from the high plateau toward the spectacular Harenna Forest, one of Ethiopia's largest remaining natural forests. Enjoy birdwatching and forest scenery before continuing to Goba, where the trekking adventure ends.
Overnight: End of tour: Goba / Dinsho
